notafuckingnut: (consideration)
[...backdated to before Castiel's announcement.]

[SPAM for Seth]

[He doesn't even know what to do with this information exactly. Graduation. He'd never really expected it, not after everything he'd seen and everything that had happened, but there it was. Whatever the Admiral did was done, HE was done. He didn't really feel any different, but then he figured you probably wouldn't.

Before he left though, he had to make a few stops. Check in with Seth, tell him what happened. Make sure they were good, figure out where he wanted to go with it.

So there's a nervous Gecko brother knocking on Seth's door now, shifting from foot to foot.]

[PRIVATE to Lua]

There's a very sheepish looking Richie on his side of the feed today. He doesn't look embarrassed exactly, but he certainly looks out of sorts. He chews on his lip for a moment or three, and then decides to go for at least SOMETHING.]

So, um. I guess I'm done...?

[PRIVATE to Jesse]

[Take the levels of uncomfortable from before and multiply them by three and you'll get exactly how much he DOESN'T want to make this call. But the whole point of this is that he knows he SHOULD. So he should. So he will.]

Hey. Uh. So I just wanted to let you know that. Um. I'm sorry.
notafuckingnut: (dazed & confused)
[Backdated to the day after the end of port because KaOS is a slow thing.]

[SPAM for infirmary folks and Seth]

[He wakes with a headache, but that's practically normal by now. Or normal enough that he accepts it with a sigh and a careful push to sitting. The headache travels all over, echoing just about everywhere, but it's the worst in his neck. Where it was snapped like a toothpick when the murderer got tired of the one man pillow fight. He grits his teeth and tries to get comfortable, and when the staff comes by he swallows the pills without question. All of them.]

Fuck. I'm really getting sick of this.
notafuckingnut: (blechh)
If anybody wants some extra gummy bears, let me know. I've had enough of mine, I swear I'm gonna fucking hurl if I look at another one.

Maybe we can trade them in for driving lessons for the Admiral. Ha Ha.

[Noooo he is just going to never discuss this flood ever and you can't make him KTHANX.]
notafuckingnut: ([wee]: think think think)
[PUBLIC video]

[The Richie that greets the network today is much smaller than usual, in the ballpark of seven, although even now he's mostly limbs, like a puppy that hasn't quite grown into itself yet. He stares at the screen with wide eyes, fear currently kept in check, but it looks like it could spill over at a moment's notice; he's seven today, and for the next few days. Seven wasn't exactly the best of years.

He's got his knees pulled up to his chest and skinny arms wrapped around them, and he chews on the inside of his lip for a moment before actually addressing his communicator.]

Seth? Are you there?

I can't find Buster.

[Buster's a green stuffed bunny with two different button eyes Richie didn't go anywhere without until he was about ten. Honestly? He's probably under the bed, but like hell is Richie looking under there right now. He is most definitely on TOP of the bed.]
notafuckingnut: (dazed & confused)
[Backdated to we shall say YESTERDAY.

Consequently, the Richie who shows up on the network looks about semi-miserable. Not intolerably so, but certainly like he hasn't been sleeping. Stressed out.]

Okay I take it back. Feel free to complain.

Just...not so loud or I'm gonna have to come over there and bash your brains in or something.

I don't even get why this is happening. I didn't do anything, I didn't say anything to anybody, there's just no...

[Ehhhh and now it's worse. He pulls his glasses off and shoves his palms into the space they vacated, as if pressing them into his eye sockets will actually help in any way.

Surprise. It doesn't.]

This is bullshit. Can it just be over already?
notafuckingnut: (happy thoughts)
[PUBLIC - video]

I got an idea. A brilliant fucking idea.

How about we just...don't get off when the ship stops. I mean...it's pretty much always some shithole, an' even when it isn't you can't stick around. So what's the point in gettin' off at all? Just tie yourself down if you gotta, or stay off the damn deck period, and fuck it.

Then at least we wouldn't have everybody so fuckin' pissed about it all the time.

[PRIVATE to Lua]

How long I gotta stay on this shit again?

[PRIVATE to Seth]

Can we do something? Like...I don't even care what. But I'm going fucking stir crazy over here. And you owe me.
notafuckingnut: (Default)
[PUBLIC - video]

So I don't know what the hell's going on, other than that the Admiral fucked up again, but I feel fucking awesome.

So whatever this is this time? Bring it on.

[PRIVATE to Seth]

What'd you get?

[He saw Hoffman's got your tattoo. What the hell?]

[A/N: Richie is Affected! He and Castiel swapped that whole...self-preservation thing (or at least regard for their own bodies), so consequently Richie currently has ABSOLUTELY NO inclination towards his own well-being. No sense of pain, no hunger or concept of his own mortality. As a result, he's pretty much going to be accidentally-on-purpose looking to get into trouble to see how far he can push it.]
notafuckingnut: (Default)
This place is fucking awesome. Why couldn't we go here before? I mean, there's just...they've got everything. And I mean everything. This almost makes up for all that other shit.

[Seriously. He is digging this place entirely too much; BRING ON THE EVERYTHING, he's like a dog in a candle store right now.]

Hey, Drac. We still on for...? You know. I'm sure they got all kinds of places here. Good places, too.

[PRIVATE to Seth]

So what's the plan here?
notafuckingnut: (blarg)
I hate this.

Just fucking stop, okay? Last time was fucking fine; I mean...it was a trip and a half but it was just a bunch of weird assholes. A genie without a lamp and a pink horse; that's...that's cartoons. That's fine. Just make up your fucking mind already, okay?

Did anybody else talk to him?

There were some other cool people this time around though.

[...girls. He liked them, at least.]

[PRIVATE to Castiel]

I want a TV. I'll do an extra shift in the greenhouse or whatever, I just need one. It doesn't need a bunch of extra channels, basic cable's fine.

[PRIVATE to Lua]

Did you see him?
notafuckingnut: (Default)
...I'm not gonna ask for porn this time. Too much weird shit happened last time.

If that crazy-ass pony's back, though, I promise it's glue. You're funny enough but nobody gets to talk to me like that and get away with it.

[He's not asking for Seth he's not he's NOT. Seth isn't here, he won't be, he can't be.]

So. Hi everybody, I guess? I'd say welcome, but you don't want to be here. Trust me.
notafuckingnut: (look at my handddd)
[A few days after the conclusion of Better Living Through Chemistry.

The Richie that greets the Barge at large today is noticeably more subdued than usual. He blinks at the camera once, then twice, eyes tracking across the screen, across the room, distracted by...something, or so it seems; more accurately it's the lack of somethings, as if he's actually trying to physically find them, but that's neither here nor there.]

So...I guess there could've been worse things. At least the other me was kinda cool? Knew how to party. And shit.

Better than that dream shit, anyway. That was just fucking...weird.

[PRIVATE to Dracula]

...You didn't have to do that.

[PRIVATE to Claire]

[A couple false starts, but he kills the feed before actually sending anything; he can't get the words together so they actually mean anything.]
notafuckingnut: ([let's do lunch]: movie stars swimming p)
So, now that the place has gone the Shinning on us, I think a last-ditch shindig is in order. Any takers?

Just think of it this way. If we don't, those of us NOT allowed a few rounds without "permission" when the cameras are rolling will have a long, dry, road of drama ahead of us, and who the fuck wants that to look forward to without a last hurrah to send us off?

...Justin, you're in, I'm assuming. I'm counting you as in, you're already on the list. Make it work. Cas-man, you too. [...No, this nickname has STILL not caught on. And never will. He'd apologize, Dimitri, except he's not sorry.]

[A/N: for the duration of the breach, Richie is Rob Tramontano, a bit part actor with a horrible tendency of getting roles where he gets killed off about 20 minutes after he shows up. ...and all of those were scored through a buddy who makes movies. After scoring this role he's started thinking he's hotter shit than he actually is; he's convinced this is his Big Break (never mind the fact that his character is pretty much universally despised other than by a small die-hard group who generally gets funny looks for it) and consequently tends to act a lot cockier about things than he probably should. ...Oh, and he's also got a reputation for being more than a little...eccentric, shall we say.]
notafuckingnut: (I'll be in my bunk)
[A/N: Backdated to the day after the Quirks Flood ended.]

Something's up with Jack, don't know if we're ever going to get him back... )

[PUBLIC - audio]

[It's an accident, the first time he flips the feed on, a coincidence of fingers and a need for something tangible, and while there's no image to accompany it, the voice is recognizable, although...uneasy, bordering on anxious.]

Just...stop.

[The feed cuts out as suddenly as it started.]

[PRIVATE to Castiel - audio]

Stop looking. I'm not doing anything.

[PRIVATE to Lua - audio]

You holding at all? I need...something.

...Stop the planet of the apes, I wanna get off.
notafuckingnut: (I've got this covered)
...You mean to tell me it's not a change-up day? 'Cause, you know. Usually there's some kinda announcement or whatever, and it's been pretty hot and heavy lately, but...No?

Well okay then. Great. 'Cause holy fuck, I don't know about the rest of you but I could sure as hell use the vacation.

[PRIVATE to Profit]

Not sure if I apologized yet, but I'm sorry, man. That was kind of completely on me, I'm happy to chalk it up to the flood and move on. Lucky thing Castiel was there, right?

[Heh.]

[PRIVATE to Claire]

[The transmission stops and starts a couple times before anything actually comes through. SOMEBODY'S NERVOUS ABOUT THIS.]

So, uh. I know it probably doesn't help much, but. Um.

I'm sorry.

I'm not saying it makes up for anything 'cause it really doesn't, but. I really did like you and I'm sorry I ruined things.

[A pause, a deep breath, and he lets it out in a rush and nods.]

Yeah. That's it. Uh. Later, I guess. Or not. Whichever.

[And he kills the feed.]

[A/N: Richie is Affected, which in this case translates to a case of the sanes. Here be reason and rationality and less delusions! Also funny looks for those of you unaffected thinking he's supposed to be a nutcase.

General all-inclusive TW for the Claire conversation to be safe; who knows where that might end up.]
notafuckingnut: (ehhh)

[He doesn't want to be here.

That's obvious enough to anyone, receiver or no. He said yes to get the angel off his case, to make him go away, and he's here so he won't come looking for him, but that doesn't mean he wants this. He doesn't understand why he needs to, what he could possibly get out of it, and so what if he said it would be Good for him, that it would Help; he doesn't care if he graduates. Not really, not right now anyway. Not if you can leave without it, not if people that are supposed to matter don't stick around. He's defeated, and miserable, and apathetic, and abandoned, and PISSED, all roiling together in an incomprehensible and disjointed mess, the whole thing colored with a sense of wrongness that creeps at the edges of awareness and slips away just out of reach under closer scrutiny, and he feels like he's going to split apart at the seams but he can't articulate WHY.]

Why do you need to work in a greenhouse anyway, doesn't it all just grow? It's not like you need to help it with that, it can do it on its own.

[SPAM for Castiel]

[Knock knock on the greenhouse door; you're going to have to let him in.]

[A/N: Richie is completely affected because pshh sticking to the original plan, what's that? GIVE HIM YOUR FEELS.]
notafuckingnut: (you win the bikini contest)
[Accidental VIDEO]

[He turns the letter over and over in his hands, pausing now and then to read the outside, a single word written in an all-too-familiar hand, with a worried expression. Unsettled. He already knows what's inside, he's read it a dozen times by now, maybe more, practically has the damn thing committed to memory but he's no closer to deciding what it MEANS.

He was here. He was HERE. And Richie missed him.

He unfolds the page, scanning over the words inside.

Keep your head down. Do what the warden says; you don't have to LIKE him, but do what he says. It's a prison, not Spring fucking Break. And for god's sake stay away from the girls.

There's more, more of the same, plus some encouragements on top of it but it doesn't matter because there's nothing about why he left. Like it didn't happen, like he'd never been here at all, but he was. Richie's sure he was. Only...

Lua said it was okay to be mistaken sometimes. That it happened, that sometimes things weren't the way they looked the first time.

But he'd been here. He KNOWS he was.

He frowns at the paper, a headache building somewhere in the back of his skull with his growing uncertainty. Fingers curl in, crushing, crumpling it into a ball, into nothing, and he casts it away from him, sending it skittering off into who knows where before pulling his knees towards his chest, twitching fingers running through his hair absently, a soothing gesture, for as much good as it seems to do.

He doesn't want to be here anymore. He's finished. A shove at the nightstand, just enough to jostle it without knocking it over completely, and the communicator drops to the floor, killing the feed.]
notafuckingnut: ([brother's keeper]: I want a room)
[Well this guy here doesn't look at all like Richie; he's cool, calm, and collected, for one, practically jovial. A guy who's completely in control of whatever situation he finds himself in. Even this one. He grins, easy and charming, like a fox in the henhouse; say hello to the more together of the Gecko brothers, Barge.]

Well I have to hand it to you folks, you're handling this whole "prison in space" thing pretty well considering it's pretty much a glorified fucking death trap. But far be it for me to judge your life choices, right? Those of you who made the choice, anyway; that's your business, and quite frankly I don't care.

But hey, I'm here now, so I might as well make the best of it, right?

So let's start off with the easy stuff. My name's Seth, and I'm not part of your regular crew; looks like I'm here for my brother Richie, for whatever that's worth.

[Which, let's be real here, probably isn't worth much.

He hesitates, purses his lips like he's considering adding something else, but doesn't in the end, just shrugs, laces his fingers behind his head, and waits.]

...Also, if somebody could point me in the direction of the drinking establishment here I'd be in your debt.

[A/N: Richie is, obviously, affected, and has been replaced for the duration with his brother Seth. I'm pulling Seth from somewhere during the ride to Mexico, so consequently he's not really aware of Richie's death aside from what he could glean from the Network. It's safe to assume he's mostly caught up on what he's been up to before he posted though.]
notafuckingnut: (listening now)
[PUBLIC -- video]

Why can't more shit that happens around here be like that? I mean, come on. Pirates, how is that not cool. I haven't had that much fun from the Admiral's shitty driving since Vegas. Just throw in Prohibition in Chicago and that's like...the trifecta.

[PRIVATE to Claire]

So that flood we had before was You were kind of

[Nothing sent.]
notafuckingnut: (I've got this covered)
[SPAM]

[He's not supposed to be ashore. His captain was very adamant about that, very descriptive about the horrors that would await him upon his return if he put a single foot on dry land, most of them involving hot pokers and bilge water, but really, how can he be expected to stay on the ship? He's always told to stay on the ship. Everyone else is let off, to mingle with the local color, spend the nights in the tavern with all manner of willing wenches, flowing taps, and glittering coin, while he's expected to stay in his cabin, under the pretense that "someone needs to watch her".

It's unfair. That whole...mess the last place they put anchor was taken entirely out of context, it's completely unreasonable for him to be confined to quarters just because of a misunderstanding.

...Needless to say, Richie didn't listen, and now the pirate who couldn't seem to ever get any further up in the hierarchy than cabin boy is wandering around Barcaza unattended.

Oh dear.]
notafuckingnut: ([genderbent]: hmm)
[PUBLIC -- video]

Driver's Ed, that's all I'm saying. Or...the spaceship equivalent. If that's a thing. I'm tired of getting woken up because the Admiral hit something again; either drive better or don't drive at all.

Sincerely, everybody on board.

[Richie is affected! And is currently named Rochelle. And is firmly convinced she has always had boobs. Much like her male counterpart, she is given to creeptastic behavior, although she's mostly a lurker who tries to be friendly, not so much dangerous.

...Although she'll still stab you if she feels like she needs to, and has a tendency to get worryingly attached to people.]

Profile

Richie Gecko

It's a Dark Night

hot air hangs like a dead man
from a white oak tree
people sitting on porches
thinking how things used to be
dark night
dark night

the neighborhood was changing
strangers moving in
a new boy fell for a local girl
when she made eyes at him

she was young and pretty
no stranger to other men
but doors were being locked at night
old lines were drawn again

I thought things like that
didn't matter anymore
I thought all the blood
had been shed long ago
