This place is fucking awesome. Why couldn't we go here before? I mean, there's just...they've got everything. And I mean everything. This almost makes up for all that other shit.

The plan, my brother, is we get our asses into some fresh party clothes, and then we go out there and we sample a little of everything until we find shit we like. And once we figure out where we're spending our time, we don't spend a second more sober than we have to. Good?

Okay. There's a bigass mall right outside the spaceport. I can't believe I'm fuckin' saying that. Spaceport. Awesome. Anyway. We hit the mall, we get dressed, and then we sit down over a cold drink and go over what we wanna do. I will meet you...by the fountain at the entrance.

Yeah, the ports are the best part of this whole thing. There's always something cool, and you can usually get cash and a piece and shit.

[And when Seth shows up he'll be there, waiting. Not quietly, but hey. He's waiting and he hasn't caused trouble yet.]

This sure as shit isn't a bad way to start a supposed prison sentence. Hey Richie. [He thumps him on the shoulder as he walks up. He's wearing shorts and a ridiculous tropical shirt he got in El Rey with beer bottles instead of flowers.]

[...Seth. What are you wearing. Richie's just...going to snicker here.]

[But he stops fidgeting so much now he's there. LET'S DO THIS.]

[Seth shrugs and grins briefly. He had bought the damn shirt drunk, thinking on how Richie would laugh at it, and then woken up with a headache and remembered Richie was dead. So fuck it, now he was wearing it.]

Yeah, yeah, it was a diplomatic gift from the Hoppians from the Lager Galaxy. Let's see what they got that's more appropriate. [He turned on his heel and led the way inside.]

[And Richie's more than happy to follow, like a puppy trailing after its master's heels.]

And you think I make bad decisions when I'm drunk. Least it's not those big stupid looking flowers, I guess.

I don't wear fuckin' flowers. [He pulls out his precious last pack of Red Apples, taps out two cigarettes and offers one of them.]

There has to be something for sale in here besides robes and assless pants.

He accepts the cigarette on autopilot, waits for the lighter he assumes will follow.]

There's gotta be other patterns though. Maybe one of those bowling shirts.

[Out comes the lighter, and he chuckles.]

[He picks up a pair of pants with four legs.]

[He smirks, and starts poking around for what else is there, looking over when Seth trails off.]

...Okay, now that's just creepy.

Yeah, I'm thinking I need three legs or less. [He drops it back onto the pile and moves on, finally finding the section with his size and number of legs.]

Might help, yeah. Heh.

[He pokes through the rack he's picked a little more, pulling out something that looks like it's probably orange. Though it's really more like several shades of orange.]

Y'know, I'm almost not even surprised anymore. Should probably be worried.

[And back into the rack it goes. There has to be SOMETHING decent in here.]

Heh heh heh--OO, all right, fancy-ass space fabric. [He picks up a pair of pseudojeans and reads the label.] Motorcycling pants, future style. Says these things are abrasion-proof and fireproof.

Hm? Oh! Sorry, I found the topless beach. It's still rather crowded after sundown. Yes, we should definitely find ourselves a venue with exotic dancers. Though in a place like this I can't guarantee they won't have fangs...only that they won't use them.

It started with this bizarre shared dream where I saved a roomful of people and he was among them. I had it in my head to show those people who have been victimized by vampires that we're not all bad. But I quickly discovered that he's quite...what is the word...unstable. [He knows nothing about the rape, clearly.] I have managed unstable men before, so...

[Castiel has been floating around Risa essentially aimlessly - part of him knows he should be keeping an eye on Richie but most of him is too busy drowning in his own guilt (as per the normal), so staring at the gardens is giving him about ten thousand times more peace than telling Richie to stop eying up the green-skinned species in the tight skirts.

And then there's Richie's brother, and Castiel doesn't know where to start with that one.

Either way, he's meandering through the street, studying the bright lights of the clubs and avoiding being solicited by the street-workers, when he sees it - a man (several of them, at that) - crowding around a woman, who's backing up against the wall with wide eyes. He changes course immediately.]

Excuse me, I don't believe she's interested in your potential activities.

[Richie's standing on the outskirts, close enough to get an eyeful but far enough away that he technically doesn't count as one of the likely aggressors; he can SEE the fear, interpret it correctly without the noise to cloud it, and it's enough to keep him back. For now, anyway.

When Castiel shows up he retreats further, separates himself to make it even more clear he's not a part of this, wanders over so the angel can see him, see he's not involved.]

I didn't start anything.

[The rest of the crowd, however, doesn't really seem to have heard.]

[He didn't notice Richie until he hears that familiar voice, but he doesn't bother to acknowledge him for now. He's obviously not involved. Castiel feels pretty confident in his ability to take these aliens, though. They apparently feel the same way, because they turn to face him, and they have weapons - phasers and knives.]

I don't want to fight you, but I won't let you harm those who don't seek to be harmed.

[The assaulters seem intrigued by this. Enough that they charge the angel, who can handle them with a flash of bright light and hands flying and a knife of his own.]

[...whoa. Richie just kind of...shrinks back a little and watches. Huh. He didn't think his warden was that badass.]

[Castiel dispatches them with moderate ease - he takes a few punches, but none of them seem to actually harm him. Someone even manages to cut him. But the first one takes a sharp elbow to the face and staggers away, the second gets throw about ten feet into a trash can over there, and the third shudders and faints when Castiel presses two fingers to his forehead and narrows his eyes. Then, he turns to the woman.]

Are you all right? Are you hurt? Do you need an escort somewhere?

[She shakes her head and gathers her stuff, then hurries off. Afterwards, he turns to Richie.]

I didn't see you there.

[He watches the fight with interest, because he's never really connected the angel with any kind of real violence, but this? Well this is different, puts him in a different light. The girl runs off and he follows her with his gaze for a moment, but then Cas is talking to him and that's probably more important. He clears his throat, adjusts his glasses, and smiles tightly.]

Yeah, I figured. Geez, man. I didn't realize you did the whole...avenging angel thing too. What was that last thing you did, where you poked the guy and he passed out? That was pretty fucking cool.

[Yes, he's really more interested in the fight itself than what it was over.]

[He pauses, and wipes away some blood on his face distractedly. When he brings his hand from his face, the cut and the blood are gone.]

Six degrees of separation? In this way, the whole universe is your family.

And if it had been your brother, being attacked? What then? Maybe that was somebody's sister, who would have needed you to protect theirs on their behalf.

[He scowls. He really wasn't expecting this to turn into a lecture.]

Bullshit. My family's Seth and that's it. Everybody else's problems are just that. Theirs. Why should I give a shit?

Wouldn't you want them to save you? If they saw you bleeding on the street, to help you? To protect Seth, if you couldn't?

But they won't though. So why bother thinking about it?

They could.
