Why can't more shit that happens around here be like that? I mean, come on. Pirates, how is that not cool. I haven't had that much fun from the Admiral's shitty driving since Vegas. Just throw in Prohibition in Chicago and that's like...the trifecta.

Didn't say you weren't there or you didn't see it. Just... sometimes there's a lot going on at once. Two people there, two different stories, Castiel isn't going to know who to believe, especially when people get mixed up.

[ She steps over to him and puts his hand on his arm. ] It's going to be all right, okay?

[but he sounds petulant, and almost like he's trying to convince himself as well as her. He relaxes at the contact though, albeit fractionally. Either way it seems to help.]

[hopeful, almost pleading]

But she came over a couple days ago, okay? Sounded like there wasn't anyone for her but Jesse then.

Okay, so she changed her mind again, they worked things out. Whatever. I'm just saying.

[More agitated; he's getting twitchy now, and no he's not going to stop asking until he gets an answer. He NEEDS an answer.]

Know what you remember. [ Come on, Richie, she already told you what she thinks. ]

But if it happened that way? I don't know.

[He frowns.]

...So you don't. Because I'm right, that's what happened. And anything she's telling you...she's lying.

[A hint of desperation; he needs to be right, he won't know what to do if he isn't.]

Told you it's all right, it happens, people remember things wrong.

I know you're not lying. [ This isn't about Claire, it's about him. ]

[However else she's been helping, she's not Seth, it's harder to accept the discrepancy. Seth insists, demands. Forces him to accept the alternative. She's only suggesting, it's easier to refuse.]

[But he's less certain of it now, it's hard to fit both truths together and make them a whole.]

[He runs a hand over his bangs absently, trying to straighten, neaten, even though he doesn't really need to and it doesn't do anything anyway. It's a nervous gesture, born of uncertainty. An attempt to distract with normality.]

Yeah, sure. Fine. As long as she does too; it's not fair if she doesn't.

[ She reaches into the basket to flatten a few wrinkles out of a shirt before moving back like it's time for him to take it. ] Even if she's not herself, doesn't remember it's you, you need to. It's still her, okay? Promise me?

Okay, I promise.

[Like she's putting him out, like he didn't need to be told.]

Even if a flood happens and she doesn't know me. Geez.

[He reaches for the basket after a few long moments of missing the cue.]

[ The last look she gives him before he picks it up goes sidewise. He won't remember, she knows. He doesn't get it. But she has to try, or other people are going to get hurt. She opens the door with a couple parting words, glad to get him out for right now. ]

[He smiles, like they hadn't just been having a relatively serious discussion, even if it's maybe a little tighter than it should be, gives the appropriate responses, and heads off down the hall.

He'll remember. Maybe for only an hour, maybe for the rest of the day, maybe even until the end of the week, but it did stick, at least a little. Even if he doesn't quite get the why behind it.]
